Evolution of Arms Law (pdf)

The first Rolemaster product ever released by ICE was Arms Law in 1980. It was a combat system that designed to replace the combat system in other Roleplaying games, particularly Advanced Dungeons and Dragons and would serve as the base for the rest of the Rolemaster products to come. The newest version of Arms Law released in 2003 returns to these roots and provides updated conversion guidelines for 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons.
This article examines the various versions of Arms Law that have been produced
over the last 23 years.

dice.pl Perl program

Dice probability tables. These tables list the percentage chance of rolling a specific target number, and the chance of rolling that number or higher. Each page has charts listing from 2 to 20 dice being rolled for that particular die type. For example, one chart on the d6 page is 3d6, which will list the probablilities for rolling any number possible with three six sided dice. If you look at 8 as a target number on that table, you can see that you would have a 9.7% chance of rolling exactly 8, and a 83.8% chance of rolling an 8 or higher. I find these tables useful when I’m trying to convert between game systems. I’ve included a copy of the perl program that I used to generate the pages. It’s pretty plain, and doesn’t prompt for number of dice or how many sides yet, it’s all hard coded and needs to be changed each time you run it. I’ll eventually turn it into a cgi script or something. It outputs a file called dice.html. April 2001
