New Banner and NavBar

I’ve now set up the new banner at the top of the page. Because of the height of the banner, it looked a little strange with such large blank bars on each side of the banner, so I set it up to be centered but to repeat parts of the banner to the side. Let me know what you think of this and if you think having the blank space would be better. Of course how it looks will depend on the width of your moniter and the resolution you are set to.

I also set up a WebRing NavBar using the new banner. It is quite abit larger than the old one, hopefully it doesn’t cause any problems. If need be, I could shrink it down a little more. Currently it is 75% of the size of the banner itself.

I also added in all the pdf’s that the Guild Companion has added to RPGNow over the last month and a half.
One product in particular may be of interest, and that is HARP SF XTreme, as it is a new release rather than a re-release of an older product. I’ll do up an individual post about it when it becomes available as a POD (Print On Demand) product.

Product Lists now sortable by Column Heading

Finally added an enhancement that I have been wanting to do for quite awhile now. You can now click on some of the column headings in the product lists to resort them by that column.

The default sort order has always been by release date, but I’ve often thought that ordering the list by Stock Number could be useful as well, so that is now available.

Haven’t yet decided if I want to try implementing having a second click on the same column header flip the list to descending order. The only column where I could see that being useful would be the Release Date one so you could see all the newest releases at the top.

Still working on getting all the Thumbnails to the larger size. Got most of the MERP First Edition ones done now.

RSS News Feeds

Experimenting with adding an RSS news feed to the sidebar, added a “Recent News From ICE” section to the sidebar. Seems to be working quite nicely. It displays the most recent headlines from ICE’s Homepage

Site back up

The site is now back up after being down for about three days due to some technical difficulties with the databases. Everything should be working fine again, sorry for an inconvenience.

Updgraded to WordPress 2.3.2

Updated the site to the latest version of WordPress, WordPress 2.3.2 and updated a couple of the plugins to go with it. It seems to have gone well and only took the site off-line for about 30 minutes.

Reviews, Tech notes

Got the next batch of reviews converted over to WordPress pages, also did find out that one of the DNS servers on my new host had not been properly updated, so occasionally people trying to get here (including me) would get sent to the old site, where I have deleted almost everything. That has now been fixed so hopefully that problem will go away, although I did hit it once for about an hour today.

Change of Website Hosts and updated MySql and Php

I’ve just made the move to a different host for this Website, and that included moving to newer versions of MySql and PHP. Overall this is good news for me, the bad news is that some of the functions for parts of the site are temporarily broken and I’ll need to get them fixed up. Hopefully that will go quickly and everything will be up and running properly in a day or two.

Style Sheet updates

As a first step to making some adjustments to the way this site looks, I did a cleanup and reorganization of the main style sheet that I’m using, which of course could lead to some strange things occurring. I think I did manage to fix the odd problem with the side menu where it would display in slightly different fonts depending which page you were on.

If anyone does notice anything really strange, or just has any suggestions on improvements that can be made, please add a comment and I’ll see what I can do.

Finally added Banners to the site, using the AdRotator plugin, so, if you have a site related to ICE games and have a banner available, let me know and I’ll get it in the rotation.

Site Update

Updated to the newest version of WordPress. Overall it went okay, had a couple issues with one of the plugins that I updated, but turned out I had included an extra directory when I uploaded it, which seemed to confuse things. Once I fixed that, things seemed to be okay. If you notice anything that doesn’t seem to be working right, particularly links that seem broken, please let me know.
