Ok, it’s been awhile since New Years, but here is my annual posting on my plans for this year for the site and gaming in general.
I actually don’t have much in the way of plans. I’ll continue to try and keep the Product List updated, which shouldn’t be too hard considering the slow rate of release of ICE products.
I might also take some of the work I’ve done in my Bughunters game and see if I can turn it into a Guild Companion article or two, but that’s about it for now.

I’ve pretty much moved to devoting my attention to my online Play by Post games over at rpgRMforums, as I described in my previous posting.
Still waiting on the final release of HARP Sci Fi , but I’ve started the Bughunters game without it.

I must confess that I’ve become a little disillusioned with ICE at the moment, hopefully it’s a temporary condition, but, in addition to the slow release rate there have been a couple other issues that have damaged my faith in them.

The Star Wars game is continuing along, I need to pick the pace up a little, but the Jedi is back in action and I’ve picked up one additional player, so that’s going well.

I’ve also started a new FASA Star Trek game, set in the time period shortly after the original Television series. Character generation has just wrapped up and I’m hoping to start the actual adventure in the next couple of days. I’ve actually got three seperate adventures planned out, all in the same area. Haven’t decided for sure which I’ll be doing first, but I’m going to start by introducing some of the characters and locations from all three.

Still playing in “Marth ICE World” and still having fun with that.

Started playing in another Playtest game, just getting moving on that, but it’s looking like it will be a fun one as well.

The first attempt at playing FASA’s old “Star Trek: Starship Tactical Combat Simulator” fell flat, but we’ve started a second one, this time just a one on one scenario and it’s moving along much better.

That’s about it. Of course, I can always change my mind at any point and decide to pick up an unfinished project or start something new.

My latest attempt at an on-line adventure at rpgRMforums is an adaption of the old Bughunters game from TSR. This was originally done up for their Amazing Engine game system, but I’ll be running it under HARP Sci Fi.

The final release of HARP Sci Fi still isn’t available, waiting on artwork I believe, but a Gamma version is available in pdf with place holder art and a GenCon hard copy release is also available, which contains some errors and other small problems.
I’m hoping the final release will be ready early in 2009, which is when I plan to start the actual adventure.

The setting initially is pretty straight forward. The Player Characters are in the Military, and are actually clones of other people, but have been enhanced to be stronger and quicker than normal humans. They get sent on missions, usually to remote colonies to investigate strange occurances, seek out new life and kill it before it kills them.

There are still some openings if anyone is interested in playing. Just pop by the recruitment thread found at:
http://www.rpgrm.com/rmsmf/index.php?topic=3254.0

Some additional information about the game and character generation can be found at:
http://www.rpgrm.com/rmsmf/index.php?board=308.0

My Star Wars (WEG D6) game is moving along quite nicely again, although it seems that I’m down to three players now. Our Jedi seems to be MIA, so I’d be willing to pick up a player or two in that one as well. It takes place in the time before “A New Hope” a little before the official formation of the Rebel Alliance. Currently the Player Characters are on Mon Calamari, trying to escape Coral City which is being bombarded by the Empire.
Information on this campaign can be found at:
http://www.rpgrm.com/rmsmf/index.php?board=308.0

I’m also playing in a “Marth Ice World” Campaign, first time I’ve ever played a Yeti. It’s been quite enjoyable so far.
It’s at: http://www.rpgrm.com/rmsmf/index.php?board=262.0

The other game I’m involved in is a combat game, FASA’s old “Star Trek: Starship Tactical Combat Simulator”. I’m playing the Klingon, taking on three Federation ships.
I was quite excited about this one but things have been moving so slow that my enthusiasm has somewhat waned. Hopefully it will pick up in the New Year as well.
The trash talking was pretty entertaining, it can be found at:
http://www.rpgrm.com/rmsmf/index.php?board=267.0
I figure I can handle running one more game at rpgRMforums, I just need to decide what it will be. There is the possiblity of restarting my “Stranded in Space” which coincidentally is an adaption of another Amazing Engine game, that particular version of Metamorphosis Alpha. However, there are good odds that I’d only get about half the players back.

The other option that some people expressed an interest in was a FASA Star Trek adventure. With the new movie on the horizon, it could be a good one to run.
Suprisingly, at least to me, I didn’t get much interest in doing a Battlestar Galactica campaign, so my work on that has kind of gone to the back burner.
And, there’s always the option of running some sort of standard Fantasy type adventure as well. We’ll see what the New Year brings.

Deep within the Dark Woods of the kingdom of Archendurn is a ruined fortress, Dún Crú. Rumors say that it has become the lair of bandits or evil goblins. Legends say that it is haunted by the spirits of its garrison. Are you brave enough to seek answers to the mysteries of Dún Crú?

Written by Aaron Smalley, Dún Crú is a complete 50-page adventure module for Rolemaster (both RMSS/FRP and RM Classic) and HARP. Designed for parties of 4th to 6th-level characters, encounters can be scaled upwards or downwards to suit the GM’s needs. Dún Crú is a sequel to the City of Archendurn setting module, but may be used in almost any fantasy setting

Guild Companion Publications is the commercial arm of The Guild Companion, holding licenses from ICE to publish Rolemaster, HARP, Spacemaster and Shadow World products. Its sales outlets are:

One of the dishes that I like to cook is Chili. I’ve been messing with various combinations for years and I have come up with one variation that people seem to like alot and I’ve decided to share. Now, I will say that I very seldom actually follow a recipe, so keep in mind that any amounts listed below are estimates at best. I also tend to raid the fridge and throw in extra items that seem like they might be interesting.
This particular recipe makes a sweet tasting chili which has some heat that kicks in shortly after.
I’ve listed a couple of particular brands for some of the ingredients for the items where I think it makes a difference. Chances are that those items might not be available everywhere, but I’m sure an appropriate substitution can be found.

1 bottle or can of your favorite beer or other beverage. Some people like to add this to their chili, I don’t, it’s just for drinking while stirring the pot.

1 kg (2 lbs) of Ground Bison, Beef, or Turkey. Other meats may work well too, but these are the ones I’ve tried.
2 cans Campbells Tomato with Basil & Oregano Soup
2 cans Heinz Maple Style Beans (398 ml)
2 cans Red Kidney Beans
1 can Pineapple Tidbits
250 ml (1 cup) Cattle Boyz Honey Hot BBQ Sauce
75 ml (1/4 cup) Renee’s Gourmet Roasted Garlic & Honey Sauce
15 ml (1 Tablespoon) Chipotle Chili Powder
75 ml (1/4 cup) Dehydrated Onion Flakes
400 gr (14 oz) Fresh sliced White Mushrooms

Brown the meat on high, adding in the Mushrooms and the Dehydrated Onion Flakes.
Once the meat is browned, add in the rest of the ingredients, stirring to mix. I include the juice from the Pineapple Tidbits, but if you are short on time you can remove the juice first to keep the chili thicker.

Once the Chili starts bubbling, turn it down to medium or low and simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring frequently.

I like the Renee’s sauce because it has a fairly high garlic content, if you end up using a different Honey Garlic sauce you might want to add some additional roasted garlic. Someday I’ll come up with my own Sauce from scratch to replace the Renee’s and Cattle Boyz but that’s way down the road. I used to use Uncle Bens Sweet and Sour Stir Fry sauce and added garlic, but that particular brand got discontinued.
The Chipotle Chili Powder is the primary source of heat, so if you prefer a hotter chili you can add more of that. The amount listed makes for a fairly mild heat content.
Some people prefer a stronger tomatoe flavor, an additional can of Tomatoe paste or soup can easily be added, I’ve also found that adding a cup of Medium Chunky Salsa works well too.
